Terms and conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to all consultations and legal services provided by SHC Law Associates. By booking a consultation, you agree to the following:
1. Consultation Policy
- Each consultation begins with a complimentary 15-minute session.
- If the consultation extends beyond this time, fees will apply at a rate of TT $500 per hour, billed in 15-minute increments.
- Time is measured from the scheduled start of the consultation.
- Advice provided during the consultation is preliminary only and based on the information shared by the client.
2. Fees & Payment
- Consultation fees are due at the end of the session unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Accepted payment methods include [insert: bank transfer, credit card, cash, etc.].
- Any further legal services beyond the initial consultation will require a formal retainer agreement setting out applicable fees.
- Clients will always be notified in writing of any additional fees before further work is undertaken.
3. Cancellations & Rescheduling
- Consultations may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice.
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation fee of TT $250.
- Missed appointments without notice will be charged at the full hourly rate.
- Cancellation fees apply only where a booking has been confirmed in writing.
4. Confidentiality & Data Protection
- All consultations are confidential. Information shared will not be disclosed to third parties except as required by law.
- SHC Law Associates complies with the Data Protection Act of Trinidad and Tobago. Personal information will be collected, stored, and processed securely.
5. Scope of Consultation
- Consultations provide general preliminary advice from an Attorney-at-Law.
- A consultation does not create an ongoing attorney-client relationship unless a retainer agreement is signed.
- Clients should not act on consultation advice as a substitute for full legal representation.
6. Limitation of Liability
- SHC Law Associates provides services with professionalism and due care.
- The firm accepts no liability for decisions made by clients without formal written advice or representation under a signed retainer agreement.
7. Governing Law
- These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
- Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Trinidad and Tobago.
